What we mean when we say independent
A short note on who we act for, and why the answer needs to stay short.
On any given search, MJS Strategy is retained by one client and works for that client alone. We are not owned by a fund, a bank or an operating company, and we do not run a candidate-placement business on the side.
It matters because search has a built-in tension: the person we place at one company this year is someone we could move again next year. Written off-limits agreements are how we keep that from becoming a problem.
If a mandate would put us on both sides of the same table, we turn it down.
